This weekend the Spectacolo Sportivo was held on the track of Zandvoort.
Spectacolo Sportivo is a track-day for Alfa Romeo owners. There where a lot of Alfa’s some really normal but also some exclusive models. Besides the static display they where driving on the track. For this ocasion the pit boxes where used as shops for Alfa parts or other items that have something to do with Alfa Romeo.
The NK htgt organized 2 races on Sunday and a free practise and qualifying practise on Saturday.
When I arrived on Friday it was really stormy in Zandvoort and during the night we even had to check the tent that is connected to the trailer again. We didn’t sleep well because the tent was making noise all the time. Due to the wind the big trailer kept rocking all night long.
Saturday I started with only polishing the TVR Griffith 200 which I had to service this weekend. The other mechanics at Tachyon Motorsport already prepared it in Soest. After the free practise we discovered a small oil leak which i had to try to fix. I needed to remove the intake manifold 2 times in order to do this. The rest of the car didn’t needed much attention.
During qualifying practise the same problem occurred and I needed to check the same problem again. First I thought that i made a mistake with mounting the gasket but that wasn’t the case. Because the gasket was to thick for the gap between the manifold and the cylinder block the gasket broke. Maarten the team manager and I discussed a possible temporarily solutions and tomorrow we have to see if this works.
Sunday Race 1 started around 12.00 and the TVR was ready to go. The night before we discovered a small hole in the radiator luckily the quick fix we used worked during the warm-up of the car. The car drove the entire race without big problems. The oil leakage was going for 95% and this made it safe to drive on. The second race went really well till the driver started smelling oil again. Now the oil was coming from an old breather connection.
The Marcos also prepared by Tachyon had a perfect race and managed to take the second place in the race.
Conclusion: Some bad luck for the Griffith. I’m sure Tachyon will repair these details before the next race.

I had a nice weekend next weekend I will be again in Zandvoort for the Wijzonol Trophy where the Mustang GT-4 will drive.
