When I started at CPM Europe I discovered then one of my colleagues did something in racing as well. We started talking about racing and he told me that his former team Lex Joon Racing was looking for mechanics for this season. He gave me the cell phone number of the team manager, Gerda Joon and I decided to give her a call. After that we made an appointment to meet each other.
During this meeting I got more excited about this new challenge and I had to see if I could match the requirements they set for availability. Because I’m also working for Tachyon Motorsport I needed to check/change my schedule for this. Lex Joon Racing is a Top Fuel dragracing team that has become European champion in 2005 and runner-up in 2007 and 2008. These facts certainly made this challenge more interesting because it is a change to join the only Top Fuel team in the Netherlands which is the F1 of drag-racing.
I Joined the team and today I met the rest of the team. My job during the events will be the right cylinder head. This means I need change cylinder head between every run. This job also includes everything that goes with that like adjusting valve rocker clearance. Today my task was to learn as much as possible about the dragster and assisting the other mechanics where possible.
