Monday is the big day for the Paasraces (easter races) in Zandvoort. All the people from the team arrived early for the Easter traditional breakfast. Only without butter this was not really traditional (we still don’t know what happened with the butter we are still looking for it). After breakfast Allard prepared for his 25min race.

He started from 2nd position but because of bad traction he lost a few positions at the start. Allard started his hunt for the podium. First he out-braked a Ginetta after the long straight. Then the BMW M3 of Duncan Huisman was right at his tail. Duncan tried to overtake Allard constantly but the brute power of the mustang on the straight sections proved to be an advantage over the higher corner speed of the BMW. 2 laps before the finish Allard began loosing speed. Everybody in the pit-lane looking at the video screen couldn’t believe what happened. With Allard on 3th position the prop shaft broke and Allard needed to drop out of the race.

In the pit-lane we discovered that a failed reaction rod on the differential caused the load of the car to be on the prop shaft. The prop shaft is of course not made for loads in this direction and snapped. The body of the car didn’t suffer any great damagedbut with the right parts it was not possible to race the 50min race in the afternoon.

I hope we  have better luck next race.
