Maybe a little bit shorter then and less popular then the Indy 500 but this event was a great way to experience the Nordschleiffe.
After hassling with the paddock controller the Tachyon truck had a place on the paddock. On Friday there was a free practise combined with a qualification. The Drivers could use the track for 90 minutes to go as fast as possible. Of course can only do a few laps with such a big circuit.
Allard and michiel did really well and qualified as 6th. Peter with the blue Corvette had some problems during the training and needed to tow back to the paddock. I was working on his car this weekend together with Wout our new trainee.
When we jacked up the car i was inspecting the gearbox and clutch but this was not the problem. Maarten Spun the back wheel and it was running freely. The Diff was OK but the right wheel hub was completely snapped.
Maarten made some phone calls and managed to get all the parts. Together with Wout I disassembled althe old parts and we had time left to have something to drink. just after the drink the parts arrived and the race against the clock started. The yellow corvette with Michiel and Allard already left the paddock and we where still busy. Just In Time we where ready and we managed to be on time in the line-up area. If we where one minute later we had to take a time penalty of one minute.
Michiel and Allard managed to take the Corvette up to 4th place and Peter managed to finish the race. He didn’t want to talk about his result anymore so I will do the same.
